Freshwater pearls are graded based upon surface, luster and shape. We do not use A or AA-grade pearls. Pearls of this quality contain heavy blemishes, a poor to medium luster and are off-round. Our AA pearls represent the top 10 percent of the pearl harvest. The shape is nearly perfectly round, with a high luster and very little blemishing. The top AAA pearls are uniformly round, with very high luster and virtually no blemishes. These are the type of pearls that are used in most of the formal earrings.
